Year 7 maths worksheets

Free Year 7 maths worksheets with answers and hand-written solutions, one per topic, in the order a school teaches them. Print them or answer online for an instant score. No account, no sign-up.

This page gathers the Year 7 part of our KS3 maths library: 21 topics, each with 11 or 12 original questions worth 25 to 38 marks. The topics follow a secondary school scheme of learning for the first year of Key Stage 3, starting with place value and the four operations, moving through fractions, percentages and the first proper algebra, and finishing with angles, data and volume. Every question was written by Robinson Tuition, so nothing here is lifted from a textbook or an exam board.

Year 7 is the year the gaps from primary school either get closed or get baked in. The sheets are built so that a parent can see which it is: one topic, one sheet, a clear score at the end.

How to use the worksheets

Print it. Every topic has three PDFs: the worksheet, an answers sheet for quick marking, and a solutions sheet with every step written out by hand. Print the worksheet on its own and keep the solutions back until the questions have been attempted.

Or answer online. Open the topic page, type each answer into the box and check it. The page marks it straight away and keeps your best score in this browser. Score 80% or more and the topic is ticked as done on the KS3 library; you can also tick a topic by hand.

Use the solutions properly. The solutions are hand-written, one step per line, the way a tutor writes next to a student. If an answer is wrong, cover the solution, find the first line that differs from your working and redo the question from there. That is where the learning happens, not in reading the whole solution through.

Keep a RAG sheet. The KS3 RAG sheet colours each topic red, amber or green from your scores, so a parent or tutor can see at a glance which topics need another go before the next school test.

Frequently asked questions

Are these worksheets the same as my child's Year 7 maths test?
No. They are topic worksheets, one topic at a time, written to the Key Stage 3 programme of study. The order matches a typical school scheme of learning, but schools differ, so check the topic names against your child's exercise book rather than assuming the sequence is identical.
Where should a Year 7 start?
With the first six number topics, in order. Place value, the four operations, negative numbers and factors are the foundation for everything in Years 8 and 9. If those sheets score 80% or more, move on to fractions and percentages; if not, stay on them until they do.
Do I have to print them?
No. Each topic page lets you type the answers in and get them marked on the spot, and your best score is saved in the browser. Printing is there for anyone who prefers paper, or for a teacher setting the sheet as homework.
Are the solutions really written by hand?
Yes. Every solutions sheet is written out by hand, one step per line, so a student can see exactly where their working went off rather than just comparing a final answer. The answers sheet is the quick-marking version with final answers only.
