Requirements

  • An enhanced DBS certificate (current or pending)
  • Registration with the DBS Update Service
  • Safeguarding training completed within the last 2 years
  • The ability to deliver lessons online via Google Meet

Pay & flexibility

As a self-employed tutor, you set your own rate. You choose your availability and the sessions you take on, and we handle the student matching for you.

Tutoring or teaching experience is preferred - qualified teachers and university students are both welcome.

Availability & compliance

Our tutors are self-employed. A Student visa does not allow self-employment, so we cannot take on tutors while they hold one.

References

Two professional referees who can comment on your suitability to work with children or young people - for example a headteacher, line manager, university tutor or previous tutoring employer. Not a relative or friend. We write to them as soon as we decide to interview you, so they are back by the time you finish onboarding.

How we use your application: we read it to decide whether to interview you, write to your two referees if we do, and - if you join us - carry your answers into your tutor onboarding, where an enhanced DBS check is required for everyone. Unsuccessful applications are deleted 180 days after the decision. Full details in our privacy notice for tutor applicants.
