Plain-English detail on what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Robinson Tuition Ltd ("we", "us") provides one-to-one and small-group tuition. We are registered in England & Wales (company no. 15418712) and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO registration ZB786879). For anything in this policy, contact joe@robinsontuition.com.
What we collect and why
Enquiries and bookings. When you contact us or book a free session, we collect the details you give us - typically your name, email or phone number, and information about your child's year group, subjects and goals. We use these to respond to you and to arrange and deliver tuition. Forms on this site are processed by Netlify, our website host.
Parent email updates. The separate adult subscription form collects an email address and the exact consent wording, version and time of the request. Submitting a tuition enquiry does not subscribe you. Our student practice pages do not ask students to join a marketing list.
Free maths practice. Maths Streak and Topic Workout launch without accounts. Practice progress stays in the browser; see the details below and our explanation for students.
Clients. If you become a client, booking, scheduling and payment information is handled through our client portal, which has its own privacy notice shown when you sign up.
Unsubscribing
Every marketing email we send tells you how to stop receiving them - either an unsubscribe link or a simple "reply to unsubscribe". You can also email joe@robinsontuition.com with "unsubscribe" at any time and we will remove you promptly. Opting out of marketing never affects any tuition you receive from us, or your use of our free tools. As the UK marketing rules (PECR) require, we only send marketing emails to people who have opted in.
Free tools and children’s privacy
Maths Streak and Topic Workout are intended for GCSE practice and may be used by children of different ages. They require no name, school, date of birth, email address or sign-up. Accounts and cloud synchronisation are switched off for this launch. We apply the same protective practice defaults to all users rather than asking children to prove their age.
Browser storage. Maths Streak stores a chosen tier and grade, dated daily results, a five-question correct/incorrect pattern and streak. Topic Workout stores per-topic results and attempt counts. Local counters distinguish extra practice and prevent a recovered set being counted twice. These records are not sent to an account or marketing list.
Weekly summary. A separate local record holds the completion date and time, tier, topic, question ID/version and correct/incorrect mark for recent completed practice. Each question version counts once per tier per day using its first mark. Records older than seven calendar days are pruned on the next summary load, focus or save; they can remain while the browser is unused. The summary suggests one focus only after at least five marked questions across two days in a topic. This local practice suggestion is not an exam-grade prediction. “Clear weekly summary” removes this record alone. It is not uploaded or used for marketing.
Unfinished work. A separate browser record can contain the question references, typed answers, drawing strokes and marking state for an unfinished daily set or workout. It is available to resume for 7 days after its last change. Completing or discarding removes it when storage is available. An expired or unreadable record is retained until you discard it or clear browser storage. Completed scores remain until the site’s browser data is cleared. The completed-set review itself lasts only on the current page.
Shared devices and trackers. Someone using the same browser profile may see saved work. The GCSE Maths Tracker separately stores the labels and topic ticks its user enters in that browser; exported tracker backups or printed sheets are controlled by the person saving them. Use a nickname or non-identifying label on shared devices. Clearing site data removes saved browser progress; we cannot recover it for you.
Question reports. Choosing to send a report submits a question ID, revision, source tool and problem category through Netlify Forms. The form does not include your practice answer, score, name or email. Netlify may also process technical submission information for delivery and spam prevention.
Sharing and teacher mode. Share text and images are made on the device. They show the date, tier, grade, result pattern and score, and may show the streak. A challenge URL contains only its date, tier and grade. No contact list is accessed. If you choose a sharing app, that app handles what you send under its own terms. Teacher mode displays questions and creates downloadable question/answer PDFs and QR codes locally; it does not collect class names or student records.
Separate adult enquiries and parent emails
The parent information page links to our usual free-session booking form. That form asks for your name, email, mobile number, your child’s year group, where you heard about us, subjects and a message. Please do not include children’s names, schools, birth dates, health details or practice answers. We use enquiry details to respond and discuss requested tuition, not to add you to a mailing list.
Parent marketing uses a different form with an unticked consent checkbox. It records your email address, consent wording and version, the browser’s submission time and the form provider’s submission record. We use consent for the requested parent resource and tuition-offer emails. The optional parent email-request form also includes a broad campaign label from the link used, or “direct”. We use it to count responses to our introductions; we do not save attribution in the browser or send a browsing history or student progress with the form. Enquiry replies do not require marketing consent. Free practice remains available whether or not an adult subscribes.
You can withdraw a parent email request using the unsubscribe form, the unsubscribe option in a marketing email, or by emailing us. Form requests are handled by Robinson Tuition before further marketing is sent. We retain a minimal suppression record so an address that opted out is not accidentally added again.
Hosting, cookies and analytics
Netlify hosts these pages and processes submitted forms. Requests to the host include technical information such as IP address, requested URL and browser information. Browser-only practice does not mean that visiting the site creates no hosting records.
Maths Streak, Topic Workout, the free-tools hub, GCSE Maths Tracker, question reports, the sample demo, teacher mode, parent forms and these privacy pages are excluded from our Meta Pixel and Google Analytics loader, even after tracking was accepted elsewhere. Fonts, the classroom QR generator and PDF tools are served from this website.
On other pages, accepting optional tracking permits the Meta Pixel to receive page visits, cookie identifiers, IP address and browser/device information for advertising measurement. We do not describe this as anonymous. Google Analytics is not currently configured. Declining optional tracking prevents our loader from starting either tracker.
Purposes and lawful bases
We use legitimate interests to deliver and protect the website, support requested browser practice and investigate question reports, with particular attention to children’s interests. For adult tuition enquiries, we use the steps requested before a contract where applicable, or legitimate interests in responding to an enquiry. Parent marketing is based on consent; withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Legal obligations may require some business records to be retained.
Providers and retention
We do not sell personal data. Netlify provides hosting and form processing. Enquiry replies and manually handled parent email requests are also held in our business mailbox. Client portal and payment processing have their own notices. Hosting or email processing may take place outside the UK; the applicable provider contracts and transfer safeguards govern that processing. Contact us for details relating to your information.
We keep enquiry details while dealing with the enquiry and review them for deletion afterwards. Parent subscription records are kept while the subscription is active; withdrawal records are kept to respect your choice. Question reports are reviewed for accuracy and removed when no longer needed. Copies in form dashboards, mailboxes and exports must be included in deletion reviews. Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time - just email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
You or a parent or guardian can contact us about information relating to you. We may need proportionate information to check a request relates to the right person; please do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are needed.
